Position Summary:

The Business Development Executive for the Federal Space is responsible for driving growth and market share within the U.S. Federal sector. This role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and leading strategic initiatives to capture federal contracts. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with the federal acquisition process, relationships with key government stakeholders, and a proven track record in business development within the federal sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Development:
    • Identify and assess new business opportunities within the federal space, focusing on key government agencies such as the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), General Services Administration (GSA), and others.
    • Lead and develop a strategic growth plan targeting specific federal contracts and initiatives.
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of federal procurement and acquisition policies, and leverage this knowledge to inform business strategies.
    • Develop partnerships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and other potential collaborators in the federal ecosystem.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with federal agency stakeholders, including contracting officers, program managers, and decision-makers.
    • Build and manage a pipeline of federal government opportunities, focusing on long-term client engagement and positioning for major contracts and task orders.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights into market trends, emerging needs, and federal budgeting processes.
  • Market Intelligence and Networking:
    • Stay informed on trends, priorities, and emerging technologies within the federal market.
    • Attend industry conferences, federal government events, and networking functions to establish a visible presence and build industry connections.
    • Monitor competitor activities, legislative changes, and agency budgets to anticipate shifts in the market.
  • Leadership and Reporting:
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior business development staff and teams working on federal pursuits.
    • Regularly report on business development progress, forecasts, and pipeline health to senior leadership.
    • Develop and manage annual revenue targets and ensure alignment with corporate goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 8-10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years focusing on federal contracts.
    • Proven success in leading multi-million-dollar federal contract wins, including direct experience with government contracting vehicles (e.g., GSA Schedules, IDIQs, GWACs).
    • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations and compliance.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of federal procurement and acquisition processes.
    • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
    • Ability to build strong relationships with government agencies and partners.
    • Analytical and strategic thinking, with a focus on results-driven initiatives.
    • Proficiency in CRM tools and government procurement platforms (e.g., SAM.gov, FPDS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing network of federal government agency contacts.
  • Experience working with defense contractors, system integrators, or technology providers in the federal space.
  • Knowledge of emerging federal initiatives in cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and digital transformation
