Job Description

We invite you to join the high-energy team at Chatham Bars Inn, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with 25 oceanfront acres, 217 rooms and suites, five restaurants, boating, a private beach, full-service spa, 8-acre farm and endless recreation activities. Open year round, the Inn is a five-minute stroll from Chatham’s charming Main Street and within a short drive of all Cape Cod has to offer. The responsibilities of the Chief Engineer include but are not limited to effectively managing the overall operations of the facilities and grounds of the resort. In addition to managing the staff and creating property-wide cost efficiencies, the Chief Engineer will be directly involved in evaluating, monitoring, and maintaining the existing facilities, as well as making necessary repairs within the entire resort as needed. This is a full time year round position. Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain vendor and contractor relations
  • Maintain compliance with all zoning rules and regulations
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, grounds, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
  • Provide comprehensive written updates on projects
  • Implement preventative maintenance plans and checklist for facilities and equipment.
  • Implement and execute the routine schedule of testing fire systems, sewage treatment and pumping systems
  • Order and manage the inventory of maintenance supplies, parts and equipment
  • Review all work orders to determine reoccurring issues, analyze costs and determine strategies for cost savings.
  • Ensure that engineering and grounds personnel have received the necessary training on all corporate maintenance policies and OSHA rules
Requirements:
  • Experience as Chief Engineer of a luxury resort preferred
  • 5 years maintenance, hotel/resort experience preferred
  • Experience in construction and maintenance for multi-building property
  • College education with a bachelor’s degree or Associate degree preferred
  • High level of knowledge and experience with HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems and construction principles
