Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Nursing Officer to lead our nursing and patient care services. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice and patient care within our hospital. As the senior executive for nursing, you will oversee all nursing functions, from strategic planning to day-to-day operations, and play a crucial role in shaping the future of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Building:
Attract, onboard, and support nursing staff to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Collaborate with HR and other team members to ensure effective recruitment, orientation, and coaching.
Develop programs to enhance work-life balance and promote a safe, respectful workplace.
Implement strategies for staff development and retention, including nurse residency programs and career growth opportunities.
Communication & Relationship Management:
Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, physicians, and the community.
Address and resolve conflicts constructively and build collaborative relationships.
Communicate and implement human resource policies in line with organizational standards.
Strategic Leadership:
Create and share a compelling vision for nursing services that aligns with the organization's mission and goals.
Develop and monitor performance metrics to ensure high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
Lead change management efforts and mentor aspiring nurse leaders.
Clinical Practice & Quality Improvement:
Ensure nursing practices meet current standards and incorporate evidence-based practices.
Advocate for the integration of best practices and technological innovations in patient care.
Support quality and safety programs, monitor patient outcomes, and drive continuous improvement.
Resource Management:
Manage financial, human, and material resources effectively to optimize patient care and operational performance.
Design and implement systems for efficient resource management and cost control.
Education & Collaboration:
Foster educational partnerships and collaborate with academic institutions to support nursing education and research.
Engage in workforce planning and develop strategies for staff development and succession planning.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; a Master's degree in Nursing or a related field (such as Health Administration or Public Health) is preferred.
Current RN license in the state of residence/practice.
Certification in CENP or NEA is a plus.
At least five years of progressive management experience in a healthcare setting.
Skills & Attributes:
Proven leadership abilities and a track record of improving patient care outcomes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships and manage conflicts.
Strong understanding of financial management, quality improvement, and resource allocation.
Ability to drive change, inspire staff, and maintain high standards of nursing practice.
