Job Description

The Communications Intern is responsible for providing administrative and overall support to the Communications Department. The Communications Intern will assist with department gamedays and daily activities. The areas of concentration include but are not limited to: Assisting with day-to-day media operations for Portland Timbers and Timbers2 (MLS NEXT Pro) training sessions and game days, setting up for game days at Providence Park, organizing and upkeep of statistical databases for Timbers2, and executing recap press releases for Timbers2. This is a season long internship. Expected start in March and conclude at the end of the MLS season (can be flexible). Compensation is $20 an hour, 20-30 hours a week, location is on-site in Portland and Beaverton, Oregon.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the day-to-day media operations required for Portland Timbers & Timbers2 at training sessions and home games 
• Support Timbers & Timbers2 away games remotely  
• Executing recap press releases for Timbers2
• Updating the club’s statistical database for Timbers2
• Assist with large club announcements pertaining to community initiatives, player signings, media days and press conferences  
• Timbers2 game notes, support for Timbers game notes 
• Other duties as assigned 

Preferred Requirements:

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary 
• Working towards a degree in Communication or Public Relations studies or commensurate work experience 
• Basic knowledge in Word, Excel and InDesign
• Ability to write in AP Style
• Ability to work on site in Portland, Ore.
