Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I the Crime Analyst (CA) III in the Record Challenge Section within Record Quality Services Program works independently, or with other staff, handling the most complex claims of inaccurate and/or incomplete criminal histories and requests for administrative adjudication pursuant to California Penal Code sections 11120-11127. The CA III must also possess an extensive knowledge of the statutory code sections relevant to criminal history record reviews, automated criminal history records, and related programs within the Department of Justice (DOJ). The CA III also represents the DOJ in court and at administrative hearings, not only to define how criminal history information is received and added to a state summary criminal history record, but to support the actions taken by the DOJ to ensure the criminal history record accurately reflects the criminal history information received by the DOJ. The CA III works independently with DOJ legal counsel in consultation and preparation for administrative hearings and may act as lead to assist program management with department-wide projects, training and legislative review.
