Director Of Engineering Supply Chain Location Atlanta, GA :

Position Mission :

This position will provide subject matter expertise across supply chain engineering functions to help transform the GPC supply chain to a competitive advantage for the company. The person in this role will apply deep engineering expertise to 1) identify and design the right supply chain for the network, 2) design multiple-node distribution centers of the future, and 3) identify and implement capacity improvements in the existing network to support GPC supply chain growth.

Director of Network Engineering

This person will lead modeling from import freight, upstream DC's, downstream DC's, cross dock sites, sortation centers, and last-mile-delivery network design, in addition to any new node type generation. The role will be responsible to develop and maintain accurate and reliable supply chain models to ensure GPC supply chain continuous improvement over time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Overall Network Strategy and Planning to align supply chain initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Network design including the location, type, and sizing of facilities as well as ownership versus outsource analysis.
  • Design, develop and implement innovative logistics and multi-node solutions.
  • Assessment of current DC Operations to identify understand and align on throughput and storage capabilities.
  • Regular evaluation of changing business needs and iteration into the network plan.
  • Storage systems slotting analysis and modeling. Iteration for improvement & optimization
  • Cross functional leadership and partnering for DC design, automation, and innovation.
  • Business case analysis for DC automation
  • Business case development and partnering with 3PL providers to support network operations
  • Leadership in partnering with outside technical resources to supplement design requirements.
  • Leadership and mentoring of L4-L6 network planning engineers and scientists.

Professional Skills/Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or Transportation
  • 5 years of supply chain engineering experience (Distribution, Fulfillment or Manufacturing)
  • 5 years experience in logistics modeling and network design. Prior experience working with Coupa Llamasoft Supply Chain Guru software preferred.
  • Experience in network planning, analysis & design
  • Familiarity with network design software solutions and modeling
  • Experience in Distribution or Fulfillment facility design
  • Experience in evaluating and implementing slotting solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Engineering economics, simulation modeling, and advanced data and analytics
  • Experience leading small to medium size network planning and design teams

Director of Design Engineering

The role will be responsible to develop and implement DC design solutions across the enterprise to ensure GPC supply chain continuous improvement over time. This leader will lead design of physical systems and controls. Seamless peer alignment with process design and virtual design teams will be critical to the success of the role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement innovative warehouse automation system solutions including storage systems, material handling equipment and automation.
  • Assessment of current DC Operations to identify optimization opportunities to improve flow, throughput, capacity, productivity, and OEE
  • Establishing and document engineered standards for supply chain facilities.
  • Design of new logistics nodes and distribution centers encompassing site planning, processes and flows.
  • Project activation including technical oversight, employee training and commissioning of all engineering project to increase capacity, throughput, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Review and selection of new Automation partners and technologies, along with facility design
  • Technical specification for all systems, automation and storage systems including facility PIT
  • Flow analysis

  • 5 years of supply chain engineering experience (Distribution, Fulfillment or Manufacturing)
  • Experience in developing productivity rates, labor savings analysis, engineering standards, and process improvement
  • Experience in Distribution or Fulfillment facility design
  • Experience in evaluating and implementing Automation solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Engineering economics, simulation modeling, and advanced data and analytics
  • Experience leading small to medium size Engineering and project execution teams
