Job Description

At BB&N a JV head coach normally earns a season-long stipend of between $4,000.00 - $5,000.00.  At BB&N a MS coach earns a season-long stipend of $2,500.00.

Start Date: March 2025

Reports to:  Director of Athletics

Job Summary: 

BB&N is seeking a Girls JV Head Lacrosse Coach and Girls MS (6-8) Head Lacrosse Coach. These are stipend, part-time positions during the winter season. The Coaches will report to the Director of Athletics and work closely with the Associate Directors of Athletics.  The BB&N Athletic Department expects its coaches to operate within the athletic philosophy of BB&N and adhere to the BB&N coaches’ manual.  

The BB&N Athletic Department expects its coaches to operate within the athletic philosophy of BB&N and adhere to the BB&N coaches’ manual as well as the Independent School League (ISL) and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) rules and guidelines.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • practice planning and game oversight, 

  • mentoring and instructing players in skill development, character development, and teamwork.  

  • communicating with parents/guardians relevant information regarding games, practices, and other team commitments

  • commitment to the support and development of those students with an ability and/or desire to compete at the collegiate level is important for varsity programs.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate is approachable, knowledgeable, and eager to be an active member of a dynamic athletic and learning community. Bachelor’s degree required. 

In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Commitment to the academic success and character development of the students

  • Passion for their sport and for working with middle and high school aged students

  • Commitment to an inclusive and equitable approach to all student athletes

  • Communicates effectively and responsibly with students, parents and colleagues 

  • High standards of professional conduct

Upper School Coaching Schedule

  • Pre-season Coaches Meeting in early March (Date/Time TBD)

  • Sub-varsity teams begin practices on March 13, 2025.  Spring season ends on May 23, 2025.

  • Weekly practices occur during the time frame of 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm.  Games occur on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and some Fridays.  

Middle School Coaching Schedule

  • Pre-season Coaches Meeting in early March (Date/Time TBD)

  • Practices begin March 11, 2025.  Spring season ends on May 20, 2025

  • Practice is from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

  • There will be around 1 to 2 Games a week (only on weekdays) and the coach must be on-site at 2:00 pm and will generally be done at 5:00 pm (depending on whether the game is home or away)

Holidays when school is not in session include:

  • March 17-28, 2025, Spring Break

  • April 14, 2025, Patriots Day
