Job Description
BIOCHEMISTRY/MOLECULAR BIOLOGY (IN-BIOM-IUINA)
- Works closely with PI to learn experimental techniques
- Prepares reagents required for experiments using standard molecular biology techniques
- Grows mammalian cells and treat with compounds to determine mechanism of action
- Assesses localization of fluorescently labeled proteins within the cell using confocal microscopy
- Maintains detailed laboratory notes describing experiments
EDUCATION
Required - Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field
Required WORK EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of research experience in the preparation of solutions
- Experience operating sophisticated instrumentation
Skills Required - Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique in a biosafety cabinet
- Ability to work several hours at a time on a confocal microscope
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to run programs and analyze data
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
