Job Description

PA Consulting empowers people through design, engineering, and science. As a consultancy, PA works across an array of industries and disciplines to turn inventive ideas into innovative products that meet the challenging goals of our clients. We work in everything from surgical robotics to tiny audio devices to industrial construction tools.

We seek intern candidates who are dedicated to applying practical engineering skills and who look at this as an opportunity to learn and develop themselves while effectively working on-real world challenges.

PA engineering interns gain exposure to product development as members of active project teams. As activities are heavily project-determined, an intern could find themselves involved in different phases of the development cycle.

Typical intern activities may include:

  • early phase conceptualization and brainstorming

  • collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams

  • design and fabrication of prototype mechanical models/systems

  • use of SolidWorks or other CAD programs for mechanical design development

  • use of basic shop tools and equipment

  • troubleshooting of models/systems

  • testing/optimization of systems for subsequent commercialization

  • interfacing directly with vendors and potentially clients

  • developing code to interface with electromechanical systems or analyze datasets

Qualifications

Additional qualities we are looking for:

  • enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in an informal work environment with minimal supervision

  • aptitude with hand and machine tools

  • familiarity with SolidWorks as a primary tool for engineering development

The signing of a non-disclosure agreement to maintain client confidentiality is a necessary condition of employment.

Candidates are encouraged to bring a portfolio or samples of work in the form of slides and/or physical objects to their interview for review and discussion.
