TITLE

Part time Lab Assistant (20-25 hrs/week)

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

The Lab Assistant will join our Plasmid Lab team to assist in general lab processes and reagent preparation. These contributions will allow the Plasmid Lab to operate effectively and efficiently.

$19.00/hr

SHIFTS

Monday - Friday 9am-2pm (with some flexibility)

LOCATION & POLICY ON REMOTE WORK

This position will work out of our Watertown, Massachusetts Headquarters . Our beautiful office space has free, ample parking with a complimentary shuttle from Harvard Square and is on multiple bus lines, with the cost of public transit covered by Addgene.

The Role:

Addgene is seeking a Part Time Lab Assistant to support the Plasmid Lab Division of the company. The principal activities of the role will be preparing common reagents in the laboratory as well as participating in general lab processes which include the generation of bacterial stabs for order fulfillment. 

To Succeed in the Role, You Will:

• Prepare LB/TB media, antibiotics and other common reagents
• Organize and maintain glassware including washing and autoclave activities
• Clean/maintain work area and lab equipment and supplies as needed
• Aliquot and label DNA samples 
• Store samples using custom built tracking software

Skills and Competencies

• Certificate in Biotechnology or related field recommended 
• Bachelors or AAS Degree or equivalent lab work experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques required
• Excellent interpersonal skills; both verbal and written are essential
• Self-motivated, organized, able to work independently
• Initiative and interest in process improvement strongly desired
