Media Specialist (Buyer/Planner) - Chicago, IL

About the Role

As a Media Specialist (Buyer/Planner), you'll have the opportunity to strategize, plan, and execute media campaigns across multiple channels, including traditional media (TV, radio, print, out-of-home) and digital platforms (OTT/CTV, streaming audio/video, and site-direct placements). You'll play a key role in media buying, campaign optimization, and account management, ensuring successful execution and performance for clients.

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of the Chicago media landscape, particularly local TV. This role also involves mentoring junior team members, collaborating with internal teams, and maintaining strong relationships with media vendors and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Media Strategy & Planning

Research, plan, negotiate, and execute media buys across traditional and digital channels.
Develop multi-platform media strategies that align with client goals.
Stay up to date on emerging media trends and bring fresh ideas to the table.

Campaign Execution & Management

Serve as the primary point of contact between media vendors, clients, and internal teams.
Build and manage TV, radio, and digital media schedules.
Oversee campaign execution, including asset tracking, trafficking, and quality control.
Monitor pacing and optimize campaigns for best performance.
Conduct post-buy analyses to ensure media effectiveness and negotiate makegoods if necessary.

Client & Team Collaboration

Lead client presentations and strategy discussions.
Provide detailed competitive and market analysis.
Work closely with internal teams to develop monthly performance reports.
Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to their professional growth.

Performance Analysis & Reporting

Track key performance indicators (KPIs) across digital and traditional media.
Analyze campaign results and recommend optimizations.
Ensure data-driven decision-making to enhance media effectiveness.

Other Responsibilities

Manage billing and resolve any discrepancies as needed.
Provide strategic recommendations for account growth and innovation.
Foster a collaborative, energetic environment that encourages new ideas and solutions.

What You Bring

5-7 years of media buying and planning experience, with a strong understanding of Chicago media (especially local TV).
Expertise in traditional media (TV, radio, print, OOH) and digital platforms (OTT/CTV, streaming, digital ads, social media).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with media buying software (Strata a plus!), digital ad servers, and Google Analytics.
Ability to analyze media performance metrics and make data-driven decisions.
Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Additional Details

Location: This is a full-time role based in Chicago, IL.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to operate a computer keyboard and read from a screen.
