TITLE: Tasting Room Lead
REPORTS TO: Assistant Tasting Room Manager

SUMMARY: Under the general direction of and the direct supervision of the Assistant Tasting Room Manager. The Tasting Room Lead Associate is responsible for effectively promoting the sale of wine and ensuring an exceptional brand experience for consumers through the highest level of product knowledge, hospitality, and customer service. All efforts are focused on attaining monthly sales goals while providing gracious hospitality to consumers and trade.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

SALES AND HOSPITALITY:
•  Greets visitors to the Tasting Room and assist guests with wine tasting, education, and purchases.
•  Cultivate, maintain, and expand lasting positive relationships with customers.
•  Accurately describes wines, winemaking techniques, appellations, unique aspects of our wine, and winery history.
•  Promote and sell wines, wine club memberships, accessories, and merchandise to guests.
•  Provide excellent customer service, in person, email, or over the telephone

Lead Server:
•  Oversee the opening and closing of the Tasting Room, including cash register balancing, deposit preparation, and ensuring all procedures are followed accurately.
•  Maintain adequate stock levels of wine, supplies, glassware, bags, and more, alerting the Assistant Tasting Room Manager of any replenishment needs.
•  Assist in training all new employees on proper procedures in regard to customer service, operational procedures, food and wine experiences.
•  Motivate and foster a team environment to meet or exceed monthly sales goals and wine club goals.
•  Participate in the reconciliation of weekly inventory.
•  Support both onsite and offsite events as needed.
•  Serve as a key knowledge resource for Tasting Room Associates.
•  Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
•  High School Diploma or equivalent
•  1-2 years of employment in a similar environment
•  Basic wine knowledge is required

SKILLS and ABILITIES:
•  Must be 21+ years of age with extensive wine knowledge.
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•  Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
•  Strong salesmanship skills.
•  Ability to prioritize tasks.
•  Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
•  Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, events, and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•  Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
•  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

WORK ENVIRONENT:

TRAVEL: 10% of local travel will be required.
