Oakwood Animal Hospital is now hiring veterinary assistants. We are a smaller practice in a great location right here in Kalamazoo. We love to stay busy and take on challenging cases. We have a fun staff and great doctors that provide the highest standards in veterinary medicine for both the clients and the pets.

Job Description:

· Provide accurate and thorough care for all patients

· Obtain medical history from clients

· Enter medical history in patient charts

· Enter charges to patient accounts

· Monitor hospitalized patients and help with treatments

· Assist with surgical prep and monitor patients

· Demonstrate proper restraint for blood draws, nail trims and exams

· Accurately fill prescriptions

· Maintain inventory and stock levels

· Basic reception duties

· Responsible for proper cleaning and disinfecting after each patient

· Collaborate with a variety of doctors and team members

Qualifications:

· Must be 18 years or older

· Must be a self-starter and motivated

· Able to multitask

· Ability to meet physical demands of the job. This position requires lifting,    carrying, and restraining animals (will be assisted with team members when lifting animals over 50lbs).

· Walks or stands for extended periods of time, and frequently working in the squatting position.

· Experienced with the teamwork approach and works well with all members of the hospital.

· Prefer at least 2 years of experience
