Vice President of Finance Full-Time | Remote | Hybrid Optional (Gilbert, AZ Preferred) About Us Safety Services Company (SSC) is the leading provider of contractor compliance management services, helping businesses navigate regulatory requirements with ease.

As we transition to a fully independent finance function, we are building a scalable, data-driven financial infrastructure to fuel SSC’s next phase of growth.
Position Overview The VP of Finance is a key executive leader, reporting directly to the CEO, and responsible for driving financial strategy, operations, and growth. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that requires both strategic vision and operational execution to scale SSC’s finance function.
The ideal candidate will lead and build SSC’s finance team, ensure compliance and operational excellence, and provide data-driven financial insights to drive profitable growth.
This is a full-time, remote position available to US-based candidates only. Candidates near Gilbert, AZ may have the option for a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy - Develop and execute financial strategies that align with SSC’s growth objectives and business goals.
- Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
- Implement cloud-based financial systems to improve automation, reporting, and financial visibility.
- Provide executive-level financial insights to guide strategic decision-making across the company.
- Partner with sales, operations, and leadership to align financial plans with business growth initiatives.
Accounting & Compliance - Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end close, P&L statements, and balance sheets.
- Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), including vendor bill coding, invoice processing, payment approvals, and reconciliation.
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR), including billing, collections, and reducing receivables aging.
- Ensure financial compliance across multi-state sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax requirements.
- Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financials to the CEO and executive team.
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration in coordination with HR.
- Manage commercial insurance policies to ensure proper risk management.
Team Building & Process Improvement - Build and lead a high-performing finance team, including onshore and offshore AR/AP specialists.
- Design and implement scalable financial processes, leveraging automation and best-in-class finance technology.
- Develop financial dashboards for executive leadership, balancing revenue recognition complexities.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and operational improvements to increase profitability and efficiency.
Business Insights & Growth Support - Lead pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and financial modeling.
- Support M&A, investment, and expansion opportunities as SSC scales.
- Oversee risk management, financial controls, and internal compliance.
- Optimize SSC’s financial structure to drive profitability and sustainable growth.
Qualifications & Experience - 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in a services-based or B2B business.
- Proven ability to build, scale, and lead a finance function from the ground up.
- Strong strategic and analytical mindset, capable of turning financial data into actionable insights.
- Experience managing multi-state payroll, tax compliance, and financial regulations.
- Expertise in financial software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with AP, AR, collections, payroll, and financial controls.
- Track record of optimizing cash flow, improving financial reporting, and driving operational efficiencies.
- Experience leading finance teams, including offshore resources.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required if experience is strong.
